Minimum Qualifications: All candidates must have an MFA or Ph.D. in film and/or media production or a related discipline.
Position Summary
The Director is the academic and production facilitator of the MFA program, which currently focuses on directing, producing, and screenwriting. The Director oversees all aspects of the program, including student recruitment, application, and matriculation, coordination of the academic spaces both on the UGA campus and at the Studio Production Learning Center at Athena Studios in Athens, and overseeing equipment purchases and repairs. The Director of the MFA program also oversees all curricula, class schedules, advises the department heads on faculty teaching assignments, the hiring of part-time instructors (with consultation from full-time faculty), production staff, and other administrative tasks related to the program from orientation through convocation. The Director is also a key member of the MFA in Film, Television, and Digital Media faculty, along with partners, the Georgia Film Academy, and other sponsors of the program. The Director reports to the dean of Grady College. The Director may teach one to two classes per semester in the program.
