Overview
The position focuses on the appearance of product, communications, or collateral materials. Graphic Design - with general direction from Design management, uses advanced design skills to create original graphic designs that appropriately reflect design ethos. Assists with ideation, concept development, and branding. Leads team projects and works independently to complete individual projects. Projects include, but are not limited to, the development of print, packaging, 3-D retail displays, event signage, logo systems, imagery, video, and collateral materials. Effectively uses computerized systems in the design process.
Responsibilities
- Graphic design development and execution reflecting design ethos; assists with ideation, concept development, and branding; leads team projects and completes individual projects.
- Project management from initial concept development to final production and distribution, including internal briefings, timelines, work-back schedules, budget management, supplier coordination, reviewing specs, production alternatives, and maintaining quality standards.
- Cost control for individual and grouped projects; estimate development costs, offer production alternatives, negotiate costs, review billing, and provide budget reconciliation.
- Supplier liaison for purchasing goods and services from domestic and international vendors; develop and evaluate vendor criteria.
- Client liaison among managers (Image Design, Client Liaison, Marketing, product design, etc.) and outside agencies; communicate project details, design requirements, scheduling needs, and graphic materials.
Qualifications
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 5 years directly relevant work experience.
- Note: One of the following alternatives may be accepted: PhD or Law + 3 yrs; Masters + 4 yrs; Associates degree + 6 yrs; High School + 7 yrs.
