Overview

Multimedia Journalist role at TelevisaUnivision in Sacramento, California. The MMJ will be responsible for generating story ideas, and for creating and maintaining contacts with community leaders, government officials and other stakeholders. The position involves presenting on-air reports in a clear, concise, objective manner and working as a "one-person band" to complete a story from onset to end. The MMJ may work alone with the camera, write and edit the story, and interact with viewers on the Univision web page and social media.

Your Day-to-day

  • Gather information, conduct interviews, shoot video, write, edit and report assigned stories daily.
  • Present stories live on-air, online and/or mobile in a fair, accurate and unbiased manner.
  • Generate video, images and/or information for digital and social media platforms.
  • Develop and maintain a network of news sources providing access to exclusive local stories.
  • Maintain familiarity with local, national and international news and issues of the day.
  • Communicate with news producers, assignment editors and managers regarding story development, progress in the field and/or breaking news stories.
  • Contribute to a collaborative workplace and interact professionally with co-workers, supervisors and the community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Establish and maintain news contacts and relationships with the community to translate into news stories.

You Have

  • Candidate must be completely fluent in English/Spanish, with superior written and spoken Spanish.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a television reporter.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or related field, or equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Proven track record of strong writing, storytelling and live reporting skills.
  • Ability to use newsroom computer systems/applications; knowledge of iNews is required.
  • Functional to advanced knowledge in the use of field cameras, gear and editing systems.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under extreme deadlines and follow directions while incorporating constructive criticism.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to drive and have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of digital and social media

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, type, edit, reach and sit for up to eight (8) hours.

Salary range: $59,000-$64,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The national salary range listed reflects the new hire salary range across levels and U.S. locations applicable to the position.
