Overview

Position details: Assistant Professor/Librarian II in the Library - MU2060 department. Reports to the Head of the Research and Instruction Services Department.
Responsibilities
- Work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week in the Huntington Campus Library as a 12-month librarian-track non-tenured faculty member.
- Participate in daily coverage of the Huntington Campus Library’s reference/circulation desk and provide in-person and online reference services with expert customer service.
- Communicate the RIS department’s value through tours, scheduled classes, exhibits, and other appropriate venues.
- Represent the RIS department and the University in the community, including appearances before groups and involvement with professional organizations.
- Engage in departmental and library initiatives, work groups, teams, and committees (e.g., University Library research LibGuides, Marshall Digital Scholar).
- Participate in the library liaison program and shared library instruction program; provide outreach, instruction, and services to faculty and students and serve as a liaison to one or more academic areas.
- Participate in regional, state, and/or national professional organizations and in professional development activities related to primary responsibilities.
- Contribute as a member of the University Faculty, including service on University and Library committees as assigned or elected.
- Engage in scholarship appropriate to the instructional and service role of the academic librarian.
- Promote the department through outreach to faculty, staff, students, and the community; participate in regional outreach activities.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned based on additional expertise, interests, and library needs.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Library Science from an institution accredited by the American Library Association.
Experience
- Experience as a librarian is preferred, but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters in subject area preferred.
- Strong commitment to public service and user-centered librarianship.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and instructional skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based, service-oriented environment.
