Overview
Sonoma County Library announces an employment opportunity for part-time Librarian I or II, Children's Services – Sebastopol Regional Library. 20 hours per week. Spanish bilingual preferred.
The position is located at the Sebastopol Regional Library and involves delivering library services and programs to the community, including storytimes, STEM programs, technology assistance, and outreach.

Typical Tasks
- Provide excellent customer service to all members of the community.
- Deliver innovative children’s programming such as storytimes, STEM programs, music and movement, book clubs, and more.
- Field questions at the service desk from patrons of all ages, and provide accurate, efficient and courteous responses to reference, reader’s advisory, and patron account inquiries.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), Master of Library Science (MLS), or Master of Science in Library Science (MSLS) degree from an accredited college or university. Librarian II requires two years of appropriate professional experience as a librarian, preferably in a public library. Must have a valid California driver’s license. Spanish bilingual skills preferred.
SALARY
- Librarian I - $37.17/hour to $46.43/hour
- Librarian II - $39.04/hour to $48.76/hour

- Principles, practices, procedures, techniques, and materials of professional library work.
- Techniques and practices of adult, young adult, and children’s services, including readers’ advisory and program presentation.
- Cataloging, indexing, classifying, and organizing library materials.

Qualifications
Education and Experience: MLIS/MLS/MSLS from an accredited college or university; Librarian II requires two years of professional librarian experience.
Licenses And Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C Driver License.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Must be able to work in a standard office and library setting; mobility to travel between branches and community events; standard vision and hearing abilities; ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull carts as needed. May require flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends.
