Overview
The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College invite applications for a full‑time, cost‑shared Library Director. This position oversees the development, currency, and maintenance of the library’s holdings, learning resources, and archives, serving both institutions and COTC's extended campuses. The successful candidate will ensure effective administration of library services, including document circulation, collection management, reference materials, and periodicals, and will provide visionary leadership for strategic planning, implementation, and assessment of all library services to advance academic and community engagement across both institutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of library collections, archives, and learning resources.
- Ensure the effective delivery and evaluation of circulation, reference, and periodical services.
- Direct strategic planning and assessment for library operations across both campuses.
- Secure external funding to enhance library services through grant writing and donor engagement.
- Promote information literacy through instructional programs, library sessions, and select classroom teaching.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to support academic and research needs.
This is a cost‑shared position, representing the best interests of The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College. Central Ohio Technical College’s mission is to meet the technical education and training needs of students and employers in the area, and the college aspires to be recognized as Ohio’s premier technical college focused on student success as well as for excellence in workforce development and technical education. Because the position is OSU paid, employment is subject to all rules, regulations, and policies of The Ohio State University. The position will be appointed as a Professional Practice Faculty member, with rank determined by previous professional experience.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Library Science
- MLS from an ALA accredited program
- Supervisory experience
- Information technology experience
- Considerable progressively responsible experience in a research library
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate, articulate, execute and/or steward a strategic vision
- Familiarity with campus administrators and leaders
- Demonstrated experience working with external stakeholders to establish and maintain collaborations
- Experience collaborating with alumni, campus leadership, and external stakeholders to expand financial resources
