Overview

Wake County Public Libraries is looking for part-time Library Assistants for several library locations.

Work in your community to provide great customer service and share your love of books, reading, and literacy.

What do Library Assistants do?

• Work on a public service desk to answer questions, check books out, and issue library cards.
• Help patrons with informational and reading needs.
• Assist Library Manager with library operational duties.
• Assist Librarians with program set-up and/or program delivery.
• Assist with making creative book displays.

Locations and schedules

• Green Road Community Library — 4101 Green Road, Raleigh, NC 27604 — Schedule details: Week 1: Monday 5:05-9:05; Wednesday 5:05-9:05; Friday 8:00-12:00; Saturday 9:05-6:05. Week 2: Sunday 12:05-5:05; Monday 4:05-9:05; Wednesday 4:05-9:05; Friday 8:00-1:00. Week 3: Monday 4:05-9:05; Tuesday 8:00-1:00; Wednesday 4:05-9:05; Friday 8:00-1:00.
• Wendell Community Library — 207 S. Hollybrook Road, Wendell, NC 27591 — Schedule: 20 hours per week with 2 nights per week and 2 weekends per month.
• East Regional Library — 946 Steeple Square Court, Knightdale, NC 27545 — Schedule: Week 1: Sunday 1-5 p.m.; Monday 5-9 p.m.; Wednesday 5-9 p.m.; Thursday 12-4 p.m.; Friday 9-1 p.m.; Week 2: Monday 5-9 p.m.; Wednesday 5-9 p.m.; Thursday 12-4 p.m.; Saturday 8:15 a.m.-5:15 p.m.
• North Regional Library — 7009 Harps Mill Road, Raleigh, NC 27615 — Schedule: Week 1: Sunday 12:05 PM-5:05 PM; Tuesday 9:00 AM-2:00 PM; Wednesday 4:05 PM-9:05 PM; Thursday 4:05 PM-9:05 PM. Week 2 & 4: Tuesday 9:00 AM-1:00 PM; Wednesday 4:05 PM-9:05 PM; Thursday 5:05 PM-9:05 PM; Saturday alternating 8:00 AM-5:00 PM and 9:05 AM-6:05 PM.
• Northeast Regional Library — 14401 Green Elm Lane, Raleigh, NC 27614 — Schedule: Week 1: Monday 4:00 PM-9:00 PM; Wednesday 4:00 PM-9:00 PM; Thursday 9:00 AM-2:00 PM; Saturday 8:15 AM-1:15 PM. Week 2: Sunday 12:00 PM-5:00 PM; Monday 4:00 PM-9:00 PM; Wednesday 4:00 PM-9:00 PM; Thursday 9:00 AM-2:00 PM.

Note: Library Assistants hired into these positions must have a strong interest and willingness to learn children's programming.

Part-time Library Assistants generally work a combination of morning, afternoon, and evening hours with a regular Saturday and Sunday rotation (may vary by location).
