Lawson State Community College is accepting applications for part-time/adjunct faculty for all subjects. This is an applicant pool. Individuals will be hired as needed. Note: Submitted applications will remain on file for 36 months.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, prepare and deliver instruction for credited academic and technical courses at Lawson State at the freshmen and sophomore coursework levels and perform other duties and tasks associated with institutional effectiveness.
  • Adhere to all requirements outlined regarding the learning management system (Blackboard): posting course syllabi, announcements, calendars, presentations, assignments with due dates, and test dates.
  • Teach from current course syllabi and training plans; supplement lectures with multimedia materials.
  • Demonstrate safe use of equipment and incorporate safety, health, and fire prevention into instruction.
  • Maintain a conducive learning environment; supervise students and maintain class, lab, and shop discipline.
  • Develop laboratory projects linking theory to practical application; provide students with current syllabus at term start detailing objectives, outline, evaluation methods, schedule, and required materials.
  • Administer examinations and record progress; implement progress tracking in the learning management system.
  • Substitute or plan for absence as directed; communicate progress to students and appropriate personnel; respond to student requests within 24 to 48 hours.
  • Follow regulations for online instruction when applicable; facilitate instructional methodologies for programs requiring industry chemicals/products where applicable.
  • Maintain permanent attendance records; submit attendance reports on time; follow the institution's grading system; submit grades by due dates; process changes in student status with the registrar; assist students with graduation documents.
  • Participate in departmental orientation; communicate announcements as directed; follow institutional and system policies, procedures, and guidelines; adhere to FERPA and ADA requirements.
  • Adherence to background check and E-verify requirements as part of employment process.

Qualifications

Fine Arts: Art, Music, and Theatre: Qualified applicants must hold a minimum of a Master's degree including 18 graduate semester hours (27 graduate quarter hours) in the teaching discipline.
