Music Therapist (Hospice) - FT

Sanctuary Hospice is seeking a full-time Music Therapist to provide music therapy services to patients, families, and staff in the Northern Cook and Lake County area. The Music Therapist focuses on musical remedies to address a variety of issues and works with patients by encouraging them to play, listen, or move to music as part of a therapeutic treatment program. The role may involve work in hospitals, Long Term Care Facilities, or the patient\'s home.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct medically prescribed music therapy activities as part of a physical healthcare treatment to influence behavioral and psychological changes.
• Develop treatment plans using individualized assessments, depending on the focus of therapy.
• Direct or participate in instrumental and vocal music activities to meet patients\' physical or psychological needs.
• Instruct patients individually or in groups in prescribed instrumental or vocal music and music projective techniques (e.g., guided imagery, progressive relaxation, awareness of conscious feelings).
• Study and analyze patients\' reactions to experiences and prepare reports describing symptoms indicative of progress or regression.

Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s of Music or Music Therapy; Master\'s preferred.
• Board Certified Music Therapist (BCMT) certification required.
• Three (3) years related experience preferred in a healthcare environment.
• Proficiency with musical instruments to be used in therapy programs.

$29.00 - $34.00 per hour (Average pay range). The pay range listed represents a general guideline; final offer depends on experience and responsibilities. Compensation will be discussed and confirmed at the conclusion of the interview process.
