As an Elementary/Middle Music Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment favorable to student learning and personal growth. Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines. Establish effective rapport with students, staff, and parents. Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge to provide an effective educational foundation, in accordance with each students ability.
Responsibilities
- Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the companys philosophy, goals and objectives as outlined in the adopted courses of study.
- Creates purposeful and appropriate lesson plans with effective teaching strategies and maximized time on task.
- Presents subject matter to students to maximize learning opportunities with real-world, application-based examples.
- Reviews student records to understand each students abilities and needs; maintains accurate and complete records.
- Strives to maximize the educational achievement of each student.
- Utilizes a variety of student learning modalities and differentiated instruction within lessons.
- Uses diagnostic assessment regularly and maintains accurate student records.
- Assesses student strengths and weaknesses, provides appropriate activities, generates progress reports as required.
- Refers students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel; assigns lessons and reviews student work and presentations.
- Coordinates class field trips (as required).
- Prepares students for state required achievement assessments.
- Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory; shares knowledge for curriculum improvement.
- Assists in the ongoing curriculum revision process and in the selection of instructional materials.
- Becomes acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students as an extension of regular activities.
Classroom Environment
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Maintains positive rapport with students; demonstrates patience and nurturing to assist in growth.
- Ensures classroom is clean, safe and includes student work on display.
- Implements relevant policies governing students.
- Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior in accordance with CSUSA policy and guidelines, and maintains order in the classroom.
Instructional Planning
- Develops lesson plans consistent with established guidelines.
- Plans individual and group learning activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
- Prepares for classes assigned and shows evidence of preparation upon request of supervisory.
- Participates with other staff in curriculum planning during designated times.
- Incorporates diagnostic information as required in the student\'s IEP.
- Takes precautions to protect supplies, equipment and facilities needed to implement the planned instruction.
School/Community Relations
- Establishes cooperative relations and communicates with parents/guardians when appropriate.
- Communicates clearly and positively with parents via appropriate mediums; cooperates with administration, staff and CSUSA.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding student records; participates in parent communication activities.
- Participates in extracurricular activities to support a positive school culture (as required).

- Proficient experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SIS and email.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor\'s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent. Valid teaching certification as appropriate.
- Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of successful teaching experience (may include student teaching internship).
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Command of subject content and knowledge of learning theory, motivation, reinforcement, evaluation and feedback techniques.
- Understanding of and commitment to company values.
- Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
- Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills. Adherence to the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.
- CSUSA may consider alternatives to the above requirements where appropriate.

Work Environment
- Usual school working conditions; may be noisy during high student activity.
Physical Demands
- No physical exertion required; somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.
- Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects.
