Overview

Christ Church Anglican (1733) Savannah seeks a Director of Music (Organist/Choirmaster).

Located in beautiful Savannah, GA, CCA is a growing Biblical, Spirit-filled, evangelical and family-oriented church committed to excellence in worship, preaching, and liturgy and a blended worship music style. The choirs and ensembles making up the ministry of music offer a wide range of music from the 16th century to the present.

The choirs include a Parish Choir, a children’s choir (The Choristers), a 5-octave High School/College-age touring Handbell Choir (The Bells of Christ Church), a small orchestra that accompanies the choirs monthly, and an acoustic instrumental/vocal ensemble with strings that leads liturgical renewal music and hymn arrangements during communion. CCA also has a Compline Choir that leads worship during chanted and sung Compline each Sunday evening and has a part-time sub-organist/accompanist (Assoc. Music Director).

The mature, well-experienced candidate will need to be committed to his or her relationship to the Lord, devoted to Scripture and in tune with the Holy Spirit to lead wholehearted worship for and with the congregation. He or she must be a team player with a humble, joyful heart who is able to work well with all generations of people in a variety of arenas.

Responsibilities

• Lead wholehearted worship for and with the congregation, in alignment with the church’s worship style and liturgical practices.
• Collaborate with choirs, instrumental ensembles, and the Compline Choir to plan and coordinate musical offerings.
• Direct rehearsals and oversee musical programming for parish and children’s choirs, handbell choir, and accompanying ensembles.
• Support liturgical renewal music and hymn arrangements during communion.

Qualifications

• A high level of organizational and management skills.
• A mature commitment to teamwork.
• A deep sense of calling to ministry and worship through a variety of musical genres.
• Ability to work well with children, youth and adults.
• Excellent organ playing and song leading combined with advanced creative choral teaching skills.
• A full knowledge of both hymnody and liturgy.
• A Master’s degree in music.
• A joy for the Lord combined with a deep faith in Christ.
