Ophthalmic Photographer Assistant-Research Imaging

Location: UCHealth UCHlth Eye Center AMC, US:CO:Aurora

Base pay range: $22.00/hr - $28.00/hr

Summary

Recruits and consents patients for research imaging. Operates specialized ophthalmic equipment. Performs optical coherence tomography and non-mydriatic fundus photography.

Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision of an eye care provider, assists with performing patient care and patient flow.
  • Under direct supervision of an eye care provider: Performs diagnostic imaging and testing including OCT, fundus photography, and visual field testing.
  • Administers intravenous agents in preparation for retinal and fluorescein angiography.
  • Performs clinical and administrative duties in support of assigned area.
  • Provides documentation, patient education and enters charges.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) within 30 days of hire or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant certification.
  • Completion of the Ophthalmic Assistant Home Study Course within 1 year of hire (tracked by unit) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant Certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider; BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
  • 2 years of related healthcare experience.
