Position Summary

As a Junior Publicist at BPM-PR Firm, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing strategic PR campaigns for our clients. Reporting to the Department Director, you will be responsible for securing media coverage, building relationships with journalists and influencers, and driving brand awareness for our clients across various industries. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of securing high-profile media placements, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of media relations and storytelling.

Day-to-day Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic PR campaigns to meet client objectives and goals.
  • Liaise daily with clients, in-house publicists, and the media.
  • Outreach to build new relationships and network within the media.
  • Monitor the media for opportunities for clients and for closed placements.
  • Use system databases and online research to pull media lists and build new media relationships.
  • Collaborate with the department account team to develop client proposals and implement PR activity strategies.
  • Create monthly PR plans and strategies to guide campaign execution and ensure alignment with client goals.
  • Craft timely media angles and pitches leveraging current events and trends to secure coverage.
  • Manage and track media samples, ensuring accurate inventory, timely distribution, and effective follow-up.
  • Coordinate with the team to manage workloads and share updates.
  • Prepare regular client reports and attend client meetings.
  • Create press releases and pitch letters to attract media attention and secure coverage.
  • Assist in researching, writing, and distributing press releases to targeted media.
  • Promote news stories and features to the media.
  • Collate, analyze, and evaluate incoming media coverage and communicate placements to clients.
  • Assist in event creation, including press conferences and on-site events for fashion, beauty, entertainment, and general promotions.
  • Attend and promote client events to media and networks.
  • Coordinate and manage client sample mailings.
  • Undertake research for client strategy, press releases, and media strategies, and present to potential new clients.
  • Prepare regular client reports and attend client meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in public relations or journalism, with a focus on media relations.
  • Proven track record of securing high-profile media placements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong media relationships and contacts across various industries.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and brand building.
  • Proficiency in media monitoring and measurement tools.
  • Experience with crisis communication and issues management is a plus.
  • Agency experience is required.
