Overview

We are looking for a UI/UX Designer to support our government client in a Website Migration project. US BASED CANDIDATES ONLY. This is a remote position. Candidates must be located in the United States and be authorized to work. Location in the DC Metro area is preferred.

The project

TECKpert is seeking a UI/UX Designer to support our client, a government agency in Washington, DC, with the redesign and modernization of their Drupal-based website. The UI/UX Designer will focus on creating templates, ensuring compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards, improving usability, and developing governance documentation. This role will require experience with federal accessibility compliance and user-centered design methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design user-friendly and accessible website templates for Drupal 10/11
  • Ensure full compliance with Section 508, WCAG 2.1 AA, and other federal standards
  • Conduct usability testing and implement user feedback
  • Develop governance and workflow documentation for content editors
  • Collaborate with developers, project managers, and stakeholders
  • Prepare Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACR/VPAT)

Compensation and Term

This opportunity is for a contract position with pay commensurate with experience up to $65 per hour.

Qualifications You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or related field
  • 5+ years of UI/UX design experience with web accessibility compliance
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating Section 508/WCAG compliant design
  • Experience with Figma
  • Familiarity with Drupal theming and component-based design systems
  • Experience with USWDS
  • Experience with usability testing and documentation creation
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident; able to obtain NACI clearance
