Overview
Web Developer role at Oklahoma State University. The Web Developer has primary responsibility for a) enhancing and maintaining the codebase for OSU System web templates, websites and applications including implementing changes and developing additional front end components, functionality and integrations; b) providing technical support and guidance to campus contacts for web projects; c) assisting with CMS management including configuration and maintenance, migrations and development/enhancement of tools and functionality; d) ensuring that all development work adheres to team standards, university policies, legal requirements and industry best practices for security, performance, maintainability and digital accessibility. As part of the university’s central web team, the Web Developer will utilize technical and problem-solving skills to enhance the functionality of the OSU web platform and contribute to high-level projects.
Responsibilities
- Enhance and maintain the codebase for OSU System web templates, websites and applications, implementing changes and developing front-end components, functionality and integrations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to campus contacts for web projects.
- Assist with CMS management including configuration and maintenance, migrations and development/enhancement of tools and functionality.
- Ensure development work adheres to team standards, university policies, security, performance, maintainability and digital accessibility.
- Collaborate on high-level projects to advance OSU’s strategy and reputation management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field (degree conferred on or before start date).
- Two years of related work experience.
- Strong web development skills: HTML, CSS, JavaScript; server-side languages such as PHP; CMS fundamentals; ability to work with multiple frameworks and languages; familiarity with digital accessibility concepts and standards (e.g., 508/WCAG 2.1); experience with version control (e.g., git); ability to work cross-functionally; strong attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines; creative, integrity-driven approach to growing the OSU brand.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of front-end architecture, performance, accessibility, responsive design and usability; experience with 508/WCAG 2.1.
- Experience with advanced XML (XPath, XQuery, XSLT) is desirable.
- Experience developing themes, modules, or integrations with a CMS such as WordPress; experience using APIs; familiarity with Apache/Linux/Docker environments; experience using git; strong web analytics knowledge.

Location: OSU-Stillwater campus. Contact: Andrew Breshears, andrew.breshears@okstate.edu. Work schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm; some evenings and weekends may be required. Appointment length: Regular Continuous/Until Further Notice. Hiring range: $54,000–$71,000. Special Instructions to Applicants: OSU will not sponsor applicants for work visas. Position may be eligible for hybrid work schedule, but on-site hours will be required each week. Any offer is contingent upon approval by University Human Resources in consideration of OSU policies, labor laws, and suitability to the work of the position/department.
