Summary

Custom Truck One Source has an opening for a Service Writer with a background in aerial, construction equipment, and heavy & light duty trucks. The Service Writer will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling service work in the service department in an organized, professional manner, and selling additional needed services to customers.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a safe working environment.
• Identify problems and services by listening to the customer’s description of symptoms, clarifying problems.
• Verify warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers; explain provisions.
• Develop estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor; calculate customer payments, including deductibles.
• Contact fleet management companies requiring authorization to start work or estimates before repairs begin.
• Prepare repair orders by describing symptoms, problems, and causes; obtain approval signatures; enter RO into service database system.
• Assist with scheduling work and issuing work to Service Technicians.
• Maintain customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle; obtain customer approval of estimates; provide contact numbers; answer questions; arrange towing and temporary transportation.
• Update knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; read manufacturers’ materials.
• Communicate with parts department to determine and locate part numbers for units.
• Call customers to notify when equipment is ready for pickup.
• Process invoices and payments for service repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent
• General mechanical aptitude / knowledge; Utility Trucks & Equipment a plus
• MS Office software and ability to learn CTOS computer systems
• Must hold a valid driver’s license

Work schedule

• Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm, with overtime as needed
