Job Description
Title: Technical Designer – Revit/AutoCAD – Custom Fabrication Projects
Location: Metro Albuquerque, New Mexico
Salary: $60,000–$80,000 annually ($28–$39/hour), depending on education, experience, and relevant project or product background.
A leading North American provider of full-service custom manufacturing solutions is hiring a Technical Designer to join their expanding engineering and design team. This organization delivers architectural, wayfinding, and branded environment solutions across both physical and digital platforms. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication documents using Revit and AutoCAD based on project concepts and client specifications.
- Generate accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and cutting lists for production.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, engineering, design, and production to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency.
- Interpret architectural drawings and technical documents to design appropriate solutions.
- Identify design conflicts and proactively resolve technical challenges.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, ADA guidelines, and industry standards.
- Maintain organized version-controlled design files.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute technical insights.
- Stay current on materials, manufacturing technologies, and software tools related to signage and custom fabrication.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Designer or similar, preferably in sign manufacturing, architecture, or fabrication.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is required.
- Degree in Architecture, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong knowledge of materials such as metals, plastics, LEDs, and related fabrication techniques.
- Ability to visualize 3D structures from 2D inputs; excellent spatial reasoning.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Inventor, SolidWorks, or Autodesk Suite is a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Primarily desk-based with regular use of computer and phone.
- Occasional lifting of up to 10–25 lbs.
- Regular communication, visual acuity, and extended periods of sitting required.
