Software Development Engineer In Test (SDET)

You'll do the best work of your career right here at Comcast. Responsible for validating product quality by analyzing and testing the quality of the code base. Focuses on writing code that will be executed in an automated and repeatable fashion which will reduce manual testing efforts and increase code quality and consistency. Develops and maintains code that validates front-end, middleware and database systems, using the latest tools and programming languages. Provides input into various software development lifecycle stages. Partners with software engineers to write efficient automation code using coding standards and best practices. Reports test execution results to senior leadership. Repairs complex broken automation scripts and performs peer reviews of automation codebase. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise. The VIPER team is an organization within Comcast's grander Technology Product and Experience organization (TPX) which supports the Product Management, Research & Development, Engineering and Operations for Comcast's Elite Video Experiences in use by Comcast and Syndicated Partners. We support both legacy QAM Video Delivery and the Next Generation IP Video Platform infrastructure from Content Acquisition to the Player consuming experiences we control the end-to-end Video delivery platforms. These platforms deliver video for live linear, video on-demand and cloud DVR services consumed by more than 20 million customers both in-home and out of home on STB's, connected tv, mobile and desktop products. As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) on the Player Platform QA team, you will take part equally in software development and testing processes, focusing on the testability, robustness and performance of IP video playback experience. Player Platform is an SDK written in various programming languages like Kotlin, Swift, Typescript, Bright script etc., that powers IP video playback experience on X1 platform set-top boxes and Xfinity Stream applications on Android, iOS, Web browsers and Roku platforms. Player platform provides a video player that integrates with our video streaming, content protection (DRM), advertisement, emergency alerts and real-time analytics services. As an SDET, you will be building automation testing tools and frameworks to assist the manual testing process. Player platform SDET's collaborate with software engineers, software architects and other video streaming technologists. Daily, you will be working on a small scrum team that consists of product owners, software engineers, SDET's and quality assurance engineers. You will be closely working with other teams internal and external to Comcast VIPER. Player platform integrates into a high number of environments with a complex requirement surface area. Primary focus of the player platform team is to build flexible and reliable API's that provide the best user experience for our customers and generate multi-billion-dollar revenue for our advertising business. As an SDET, you will be working on building flexible and robust automation framework that validates all the player Api's being developed by the engineering team and to deliver a high-quality product to our customers that provide the best streaming experience. You will be required to get acquainted with multiple platforms where Comcast Xfinity Stream, Sky Sports and other syndication partner applications are supported. You will need to be a subject matter expert for triaging issues that are reported by the customers and work with engineering teams to get a potential fix and certify the fix for deployment. You will need to build automation scripts that does regression on the player releases and quickly release the changes to our customers. What You'll Do: Collaborate closely with development team and automation testers to ensure deliverables meet quality Work with development teams to plan, implement, and track Component testing activities Effective failure analysis and consistent testing status reporting to the team and leadership Function as a leading member of our agile team and help drive consistent testing practices Ensures engineering team delivers a quality product that meets the defined Acceptance Criteria Coach and mentor other QAs on the team to contribute to effective testing Follow agile practices run daily scrums, planning, grooming and sprint retrospective meetings Support test planning, manual and automated test cases/scripts, and test execution Analyze manual and automated test scenario results. What You'll Need: 8+ years of experience in testing enterprise mobile applications Experience in manual testing and test automation on Android, iOS and Roku platforms Experience with Smoke, Functional, Regression, Integration and Component testing techniques Ability to recognize risks and errors in the application Working experience and understanding of Agile software development and test processes Experience with Jira/Jenkins/Git integration Concourse, Jenkins, Bamboo or other continuous integration tool experience Able to independently execute automation for iOS, Android and Roku platforms Preferably to have experience in automation using Appium, Selenium, Java, Python Experience with Mobile Cloud testing / device farm testing BrowserStack, AWS device farm or similar Experience with network traffic capture tools such as Charles, Postman and Wireshark A passion for testing, development, and design Cloud Services: Amazon Web Services What types of technologies for this role work on?
