Gateway Rehab is seeking a compassionate and skilled Music Counselor to join our team at our Center Township, PA location. Our Music Counselor plays a vital role in the therapeutic treatment of individuals recovering from substance use disorders. This unique position combines a passion for music with counseling expertise to contribute to the holistic healing process of our patients.


Responsibilities

  • Plans and facilitates individual and group music therapy sessions for clients in various stages of addiction recovery.
  • Utilizes a variety of musical techniques to address emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of clients.
  • Conducts assessments to understand the musical preferences and therapeutic needs of clients.
  • Collaborates with the treatment team to integrate music therapy into individualized treatment plans.
  • Provides emotional and therapeutic support to clients through the use of music as a medium for expression and healing.
  • Assists clients in exploring and understanding the connections between their emotions and musical experiences.
  • Collaborates with other counselors and healthcare professionals to integrate music therapy into the overall treatment approach.
  • Attends team meetings to discuss client progress and adjust therapeutic interventions as needed.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation of client progress, session notes, and treatment plans.
  • Provides regular updates to the treatment team on the impact of music therapy on clients' well-being.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of addiction and recovery principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to create a safe and supportive environment for clients.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s in music therapy or counseling discipline.
  • Experience working in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation setting is advantageous.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's degree. Degree must be in field that meets the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs staffing qualification regulations.
  • Experience in a mental health or drug and alcohol professional setting

Additional Requirements:

  • Pass PA Criminal Background Check
  • Obtain Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprinting Clearances
  • Pass Drug Screen
  • TB Test
