Technical Writer

A collaborative Technical Writer will support the documentation needs of space avionics products by working closely with Systems Engineers to develop clear, accurate, and user-friendly technical content.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain user guides, technical manuals, and product documentation for avionics hardware and systems.
  • Collaborate directly with Systems Engineers to capture design intent, test procedures, and engineering concepts.
  • Format and structure documents to meet internal standards and customer requirements.
  • Draft and revise test procedures, requirements documents, and engineering reports.
  • Organize and manage documentation for articles, assemblies, and subsystems.
  • Ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance with aerospace documentation standards.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in technical writing, preferably in aerospace, defense, or electronics manufacturing.
  • Strong ability to interpret and translate complex engineering concepts into clear documentation.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Confluence.
  • Familiarity with requirements management and test documentation is a plus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of technical writing, technical documentation, and document control.
  • Ability to create user guides, technical manuals, and product documentations.
  • Experience with technical requirements and specifications.
  • Editing skills and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.

Work Environment

The position is based at a small site with office space, assembly, and lab areas. The office is located in a modest building within a small business park, alongside Maxar Technologies. The company is a space avionics and sensor systems enterprise serving commercial, space, and defense markets. Founded in Pasadena, California in 2001, the company focuses on the success of missions by developing, manufacturing, and testing video systems integrated into satellites, rockets, and spacecraft. The team has participated in major space missions, including those with NASA and other leading aerospace companies.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pasadena, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $42.00/hr.
