Summary of Position

The Grant Writer will play a pivotal role in securing and managing high-level institutional funding to elevate Food Bank of South Jersey’s grant efforts and drive sustainable funding growth. This position will take ownership of grant proposals, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and long-term sustainability. The Grant Writer will develop and execute grant strategies and strengthen relationships with key funders. This role requires advanced writing, research, and project management skills to elevate FBSJ’s grant efforts and drive sustainable funding growth.

Position Responsibilities

  • Grant Strategy: Execute grant strategy to secure funding from government agencies, private foundations, and corporate donors.
  • Identify and pursue grants that align with FBSJ’s mission.
  • Collaborate with programmatic management to align proposals with strategic priorities.
  • Craft and submit highly detailed narratives of all funding levels, demonstrating impact, scalability, and sustainability.
  • Manage complex proposal elements, including multi-department collaborations, consortium applications, and technical components.

Grants Management & Compliance

  • Oversee the grant application pipeline, reporting schedules, and compliance tracking.
  • Partner with the finance team to develop accurate budgets and financial reports for grant proposals.
  • Ensure that all grant deliverables, reporting requirements, and compliance standards are met.
  • Serve as a point of contact for select institutional funders.
  • Represent FBSJ in funder meetings and networking events.

Education, Experience & Skills

  • At least three years of grant writing experience, including government, foundation, and corporate grants.
  • Proven track record in securing six-figure+ grants and managing complex funding relationships.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with experience in funding prospecting and donor engagement.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in grants management systems, donor databases, and compliance tracking tools.

We believe in pay transparency. The annual salary for this position is $75,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Our approach to compensation values the expertise and contributions of all team members.
