Ulta Beauty is hiring: Specialty Artist - MAC in Port Orchard

Overview

The Specialty Artist - MAC is responsible for maximizing sales in the MAC brand (including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their needs, assisting guests in selecting and purchasing merchandise, and maintaining store standards including cleanliness and replenishment. They represent the image, products, and culture of Ulta Beauty and the MAC brand to guests and support the Experience Manager through a focus on performance, people, and process. This position requires professional makeup artistry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals and contribute to store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and retail shrink as set by Ulta Beauty.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships by interfacing with existing guests, maintaining active contact with a growing preferred guest list, and following up on guest inquiries.
• Ensure exceptional service by greeting and engaging every guest, personalizing service, offering samples, and recommending complementary products or services.
• Conduct personalized makeup demonstrations, applications, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations to MAC and Ulta Beauty brand standards.
• Study and practice Skill Certification requirements and complete as many skill sets as appropriate within the specified timeframe.
• Stay informed about promotions and marketing initiatives within the MAC brand and store categories/departments.
• Book appointments for services and in-store events that deliver an exceptional guest experience while meeting MAC and store sales goals.
• Stay informed about new and existing industry trends, products, and services and be knowledgeable about ingredients and benefits to better serve guests.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.

People

• Contribute to an inclusive environment that supports teammates, peers, and guests.
• Promote the benefits of the guest loyalty program and Ulta Beauty app to guests on the sales floor.
• Maintain and update an active MAC brand sales clientele portfolio.
• Serve as a brand ambassador with store associates, brand partners, and guests by sharing product knowledge and makeup techniques, including MAC consciousness programs and Back to MAC.
• Maintain strong relationships with MAC brand partners through trainings and in-store events and promotions.
• Participate in ongoing training to enable professional development and drive MAC brand sales.
• Collaborate with managers and store teams to help grow the business.

Process

• Adhere to Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow Ulta Beauty and MAC brand dress code and wear brand assets as directed.
• Drive sales by keeping work area replenished, signed, and faced; ensure testers are available and maintained in hygiene standards.
• Maintain store and MAC operational standards, including recycling program and cleanliness of the MAC area, sales floor, restrooms, cashwrap, backroom, and break area.
• Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, inventory procedures, and processing shipments using brand-provided technology.
• Protect company assets by following loss prevention practices and delivering exceptional guest service.
• Execute other operational tasks as directed.

Job Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma is preferred
• Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by state law

Experience

• Cosmetics artistry experience preferred

Skills

• Demonstrates significant competency in sales, products, and service
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to handle guest concerns proactively and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Special Position Requirements

• Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Attend brand-sponsored trainings

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility during shift
• Frequent standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and twisting
• Up to 10 lbs. lifting during shift

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00 per hour. Exact pay will be based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, and location.
