Overview
Join to apply for the Audio Producer role at The Wall Street Journal. The Wall Street Journal is seeking a dynamic, self-starting audio and video producer to drive a personal finance podcast that we are redeveloping. This isn’t just about sound—it’s about bringing complex money topics to life through compelling, visually rich content. You’ll work with top-tier reporters and industry professionals to break down everything from saving and investing to taxes and financial decisions. We need someone who can not only pitch and produce world-class audio, but also help us redefine what a video podcast can be. The ideal candidate has a strong background in video journalism, podcast production, digital storytelling and development. You’re a creative force with excellent editorial judgment and a passion for finding new ways to connect with an audience. You’ll network across our newsroom to stay on the cutting edge of what our reporters and editors are working on, and you’ll immerse yourself in the news, trends and developments around money and personal finance that will make this show a must-listen and watch. This is a collaborative opportunity to join a growing team that produces impactful, factual and news-driven podcasts across the WSJ newsroom, with a dedicated core listenership and a goal to elevate content and audience engagement.

- Work closely with the show’s host and Supervising Producer as well as coverage chiefs across the WSJ newsroom to initiate and develop original story ideas, including special series and immersive approaches to connect with the audience and external events.
- Contribute to the production and post-production of the show: pitching stories, booking and pre-interviewing guests, writing scripts, recording interviews, editing sound and video, and posting to platforms.
- Conduct remote recordings, in-studio interviews and field work.
- Promote the show through creating promos, sizzle reels and social media assets including videos.
- Interview WSJ reporters and sources, coaching those without audio and video experience.
- Manage multiple projects in various stages of development and production.
- Ensure content is accurate, fact-checked and meets high production value, and that WSJ journalistic and legal standards are followed.
- Complete additional duties as assigned, including supporting other WSJ podcast productions.
- Fill in as a host and/or contribute to the podcast on mic.
What You'll Bring
- At least 3 years of experience in audio and video storytelling for a daily podcast or radio show.
- A professional background in video journalism, podcast production and digital storytelling.
- Strong shooting and editing skills.
- Deep understanding of and interest in the Journal’s core coverage areas.
- Strong editorial judgment and broad knowledge of current events.
- Strong editorial skills, including experience in research, fact-checking and sculpting longform interviews both before and after recordings.
- Professional experience writing headlines, captions and scripts for stories under tight time constraints.
- Experience developing and launching new products.
- Professional-level understanding of Adobe Audition, Pro Tools or other DAWs.
- Professional experience using Premiere is a strong plus.
