We are searching for a Designer or Senior Designer for our Washington, D.C. studio and a confidential client. The Designer is responsible for leading all design phases for interior projects, establishing the vision, leading the team, and having extensive client interaction.
Responsibilities
- Lead design phases for interior projects, establish project vision, lead the design team, and maintain extensive client interaction.
- Be part of a team supporting a client with a large campus in the Tysons/McLean area.
- Manage design for new, refresh, remodels, renovations, relocations, rollouts, and concept test projects within Real Estate and Property Development.
- Handle small to mid-sized quick-turnaround projects per year (typical 100–5,000 SF).
- Act as liaison between client and architecture firm; coordinate project teams to ensure timely completion of documents.
- Develop overall design concepts and detailed project drawings (schematic design, design development, permits, pricing, construction documents).
- Present concepts to clients, gain approval, and manage design process for internal activities and external vendors.
- Establish and monitor adherence to project budgets; manage client relationships from initial assessment through final delivery.
- Review engineering drawings for design compliance; resolve inconsistencies with technical staff.
- Provide furniture layouts, selections, specifications, and FFE coordination with dealers; obtain client approval and integrate into design.
- Produce, review, and finalize space plans; develop and deliver interior and exterior signage specification and branding.
- Ensure adherence to budget and promptly inform PM or client of potential variances.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of architecture, design, or business school; equivalent experience may be substituted.
- Experience: 6+ years producing design projects.
- Schedule: Hybrid schedule (Client Campus on Tue/Wed/Thu and remote days on Mon/Fri).
- Background check and drug screening required.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Software: AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Acrobat, MS Office Suite (Advanced Revit and Advanced Adobe Creative Suite preferred).
- Strong knowledge of design principles, space planning methodology, furnishings and finishes, and furniture layout concepts.
- Expert sketching, rendering, and interior architecture detailing skills; extensive knowledge of CDs, building systems, codes, ADA, and contract administration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; strong presentation and graphic communication skills; Affinity Program or equivalent experience helpful.
