Executive Director for the Las Vegas–Clark County Library District Foundation

The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Foundation is hiring for a new Executive Director. This position is with the LVCCLD Foundation, a separate nonprofit organization, and not employed by the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District.

About the Foundation

The LVCCCD Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that expands the Library District’s programs and reach. The Foundation supports learning, employment, and community vitality, and raises resources for Library District service innovations and partnerships. The Foundation’s goal is to help every person enjoy a lifelong relationship with learning through fundraising, advocacy, and program support. Overall Position Purpose

This is an advanced fundraising position responsible for the strategic direction, tactical execution, oversight, and leadership of the LVCCLD Foundation. The role involves planning, managing, cultivating, and securing philanthropic support for the Foundation’s annual fund, endowment, and program support of the Library District. It also includes growing the Friends of LVCCLD membership program. The Executive Director may represent and lead the library in major campaigns and planned giving programs, as an employee of the LVCCLD Foundation.

Compensation and Location

Base Salary $105,000 to $145,000, plus additional compensation of $15,000 to purchase benefits. Eligible for an annual merit increase based on performance.

Location/Considerations Full-time (40 hours/week), in-person position based at the Windmill office, 7060 W. Windmill Lane, Las Vegas. Frequent donor and other meetings at offsite locations required.

Reports To

Reports directly to the LVCCLD Foundation Board Chair.

Direct Reports

Directly supervises assigned Foundation staff, which may include leased staff and consultants.

Essential Functions

  • Fundraising and Development
  • Assess fundraising needs by working with Foundation Board members and the Library’s Executive Director to establish goals and develop a strategy.
  • Maintain a personal portfolio of donors (individuals, foundations, corporations).
  • Develop fundraising campaigns and build donor relationships based on best practices.
  • Plan and implement fundraising strategies to move donors through the donor continuum; cultivate and solicit to meet objectives; provide leadership for stewardship of all gifts.
  • Create and execute strategies to raise sustainable funds to achieve the Foundation’s mission and growth objectives.
  • Develop plans to support major gifts campaigns for long-term needs identified by the Library.
  • Develop and implement approaches to attract and maintain relationships with potential contributors.
  • Cultivate donors through intentional stewardship, ensuring donors feel valued by their impact.
  • Assess the effectiveness of fundraising programs and make recommendations to enhance resources and development functions.
  • Understand and support Library system policies and procedures; actively support LVCCLD mission.
  • Develop and execute plans for Foundation growth and outreach; create innovative fundraising strategies tied to programs or library branches.
  • Board Relations: uphold policies and procedures in compliance with laws; provide leadership to the Board in strategic planning and fundraising.
  • Attend Foundation Board meetings and prepare reports; develop and maintain Board member relationships; support Board committees.
  • Coordinate training to strengthen Board fundraising skills when needed.
  • Fiscal and Budget Oversight
  • Oversee fiscal and budgetary activities with the Library’s Director of Finance and Foundation Board Treasurer; prepare budgetary recommendations and monitor budget.
  • Ensure donor records maintenance; assist in financial reporting related to donation activity; oversee record management and expenditure reports.
  • Analyze financial statements for accuracy and identify emerging challenges.
  • Communication & Marketing
  • Collaborate with LVCCLD Branding/Marketing and Foundation Board to promote development efforts; publicize gifts, programs, and events; respond to media inquiries and represent the Foundation in fund development matters.
  • Supervision
  • Oversee fundraising and office operations; manage Foundation staff, leased staff, and consultants; perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications may be met by either of the following options:

  • Option 1 — Bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing, public relations, nonprofit administration, or related field; five (5) to eight (8) years of relevant leadership experience with emphasis on fundraising and development.
  • Option 2 — Advanced degree (Master/Doctoral) in business management, marketing, public relations, nonprofit administration, or related field; three (3) to five (5) years of relevant leadership experience with emphasis on fundraising and development.

Salary range: USD $105,000 – $145,000 per year. Full-time position with Foundation Administration at Windmill Service Center, 7060 W. Windmill Lane, Las Vegas.
