Overview / Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic music /band teacher to foster and facilitate the intellectual, social and spiritual development of our students. Duties include grades Pre-school through 8th grades and Rhema Band that functions on a musical grade 2 level. Choral / General Music grades K to 8 use Orff instruments. This applicant will implement lessons and teach children with patience, creativity, and the love of God. Our teacher will demonstrate a mature and vibrant relationship with God and be dedicated to the philosophy of Christian education.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s required or Master’s degree preferred in teaching.

1. Experience in teaching grades K-8 preferred.
2. Superior communication and people skills.
3. Personality traits that allow for a positive relational connection with children, parents, and staff.
4. Organizational skills and flexibility as well as the ability to handle change and multiple taskings.
5. A mature relationship with Jesus Christ and evidence of a Biblical lifestyle.

Essential Skills

1. Passion for Christian education and the ability to inspire students.
2. Love for students and understanding of their unique social, physiological, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs.
3. Experience with and skill in learning and teaching modalities including various instructional technologies and strategies.
4. Desire to work in the context of a Christian professional learning community.

Responsibilities

1. Designing lesson plans through web-based software on curriculum tied to student outcomes and standards.
2. Serve as a member of a professional learning community.
3. Function as a member of an instructional team.
4. Instruct and lead students in our annual school musical.
5. Build fruitful and mentoring relationships with parents as well as students and staff.
6. Serve as instructor in designated courses of study.
7. Create a classroom conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interest.
8. Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment.
9. Establish classroom routines and procedures in which assigned.
10. Maintain a professional appearance as an example to students.
11. Maintain rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
12. Communicates effectively with parents.

Candidates will need to secure Act 34, Act 151, and Act 114 clearances (Clearance Information). Must have a valid PA driver's license and a clean driving record.
