Overview / Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic music /band teacher to foster and facilitate the intellectual, social and spiritual development of our students. Duties include grades Pre-school through 8th grades and Rhema Band that functions on a musical grade 2 level. Choral / General Music grades K to 8 use Orff instruments. This applicant will implement lessons and teach children with patience, creativity, and the love of God. Our teacher will demonstrate a mature and vibrant relationship with God and be dedicated to the philosophy of Christian education.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s required or Master’s degree preferred in teaching.
- Experience in teaching grades K-8 preferred.
- Superior communication and people skills.
- Personality traits that allow for a positive relational connection with children, parents, and staff.
- Organizational skills and flexibility as well as the ability to handle change and multiple taskings.
- A mature relationship with Jesus Christ and evidence of a Biblical lifestyle.
Essential Skills
- Passion for Christian education and the ability to inspire students.
- Love for students and understanding of their unique social, physiological, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs.
- Experience with and skill in learning and teaching modalities including various instructional technologies and strategies.
- Desire to work in the context of a Christian professional learning community.
Responsibilities
- Designing lesson plans through web-based software on curriculum tied to student outcomes and standards.
- Serve as a member of a professional learning community.
- Function as a member of an instructional team.
- Instruct and lead students in our annual school musical.
- Build fruitful and mentoring relationships with parents as well as students and staff.
- Serve as instructor in designated courses of study.
- Create a classroom conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interest.
- Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment.
- Establish classroom routines and procedures in which assigned.
- Maintain a professional appearance as an example to students.
- Maintain rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
- Communicates effectively with parents.
Candidates will need to secure Act 34, Act 151, and Act 114 clearances (Clearance Information). Must have a valid PA driver's license and a clean driving record.
