As part of Cengage Global Marketing Services, the Web Services team provides go-to-market SEO expertise to promote Marketing websites and drive organic growth. We seek a highly skilled SEO Manager to lead our SEO strategy.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement comprehensive SEO plans to improve organic search rankings and drive traffic for Cengage Marketing websites
• Work closely with go-to-market partners to align SEO strategies with business goals and objectives
• Act as the main liaison with SEO consultants/services to review and enhance SEO plans and ensure alignment with business goals
• Develop an overarching go-to-market SEO strategy plan for Cengage Group Marketing across all business units and regions
• Collaborate with social and paid media teams to ensure cohesive marketing efforts
• Work with web production owners to implement technical and content SEO strategies
• Guide content teams with targeted keyword strategies, create keyword playbooks, and train teams on implementation
• Identify and resolve technical SEO issues with internal teams to optimize website performance
• Track SEO metrics (traffic, rankings, conversion rates, share of voice, competitor activities) and adjust strategies accordingly
• Provide actionable recommendations and clear reports to stakeholders on the status of SEO campaigns
• Keep abreast of SEO trends and algorithm updates to maintain competitive advantage
• Oversee the work of the SEO Specialist

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Decision Science, Information Technology or related field
• 5+ years of experience as an SEO lead in a fast-paced environment
• In-depth knowledge of standard SEO tools (e.g., BrightEdge, Moz, Google Search Console, GA4)
• Proficiency with Excel
• Understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Ability to analyze large data sets and translate insights into SEO strategy
• Strong data interpretation, reporting, and ability to present actionable insights
• Ability to present data clearly to stakeholders and align with objectives
• Knowledge of paid and social media marketing and its impact on SEO
• Experience collaborating with external experts and vendors
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across a large organization
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex SEO concepts

Preferred

• Relevant SEO certifications (e.g., Google, BrightEdge)
• Knowledge of Google Ads
• Agency experience

Compensation

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles may include additional incentive compensation beyond base pay.

$67,000.00 - $84,000.00 USD
