Position Description
The RF/Communications Department Manager is a leader responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the engineering team and for assigning engineering resources and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. This is a highly technical role with a broad skill set that covers RF schematic design (from UHF to V band), layout, manufacturing and testing. The candidate shall have broadband knowledge of RF and Communication hardware/systems and should have experience in the production of qualified hardware/systems for space. The Department Manager will provide technical guidance and support to team members, help overcome challenges and find solutions. The manager will ensure that processes, Standard Operating Procedures and rigorous design flows are followed. He/She will maintain effective communication channels between the engineering team and other departments. The Department Manager will be the point of contact for any technical inquiries or issues and will work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with the overall business objectives. Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the engineering team Oversee the development and execution of projects Review ongoing efforts and rectify issues Support internal and external design and development reviews with related documentation Ensure adherence to Voyager quality standards, design and development processes and standard operating procedures Ensure the engineering team remains focused on projects, company goals and objectives Check the team’s work for technical accuracy and ensure the validity of methods used Ensure the team has adequate means and tools for efficient project execution and product development; determine equipment, software licenses, staff and training needs Assist in project resource allocations, ensuring engineers are efficiently allocated and have a balanced workload Review team members’ work schedules/tasks Monitor and evaluate engineers’ progress Support and promote a culture that rewards motivation and cooperation Coordinate work with other managers and staff Participate in proposals and trade studies, including evaluating contractor and subcontractor proposals for technical feasibility Review contract/proposals/opportunities with emphasis on SOW, technical requirements, data requirements and statement of compliance before acceptance and transfer to the engineering team Evaluate and approve strategies to bridge technical, programmatic and personnel gaps in the engineering team Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent and 10 years of industry experience Previous experience with RF UC/DC designs, layout and testing Previous experience with Power Amplifiers (up to 10W) design, layout and testing Capable of multi-tasking; working on multiple projects and supporting production activities Capable of coming up-to-speed quickly on new technologies Proficient in personal computing skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Preference
Experience with requirements development and analysis, specifications, engineering drawings, interface control documents, test plans/procedures/scripts/software, validation & verification plans Knowledge of space system designs, environments and operations Experience engaging government and commercial customers to advance projects and initiatives through engineering management Proficiency in various enterprise tools (ERP, PLM, QMS, CM, and related engineering design tools) Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools to plan, execute, and monitor projects effectively Please click “Apply” to submit your application.
