Overview
Managing Editor IEEE Climate. IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. IEEE Climate is an all-electronic archival magazine. The Managing Editor leads the launch and daily operations, develops short- and long-term content goals, and implements marketing strategies to strengthen Climate’s competitiveness. The role also supports the long-term financial health of the journal through achievement of usage, citation, and revenue-generation goals.
Responsibilities
Lead the launch and ongoing daily operations of IEEE Climate, including editorial direction and content development.
Develop and implement short- and long-term content goals and marketing strategies.
Guide content selection to align with IEEE’s mission and vision at the intersection of technology and climate change.
Publish content related to climate change, including discussions of public policy and economic impact as relevant to IEEE fields of interest.
Support the financial health of the journal through achievement of usage, citations, and revenue-generation goals.
Qualifications
Master’s or other advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technology or science field.
10–15 years of experience in a technical publishing leadership role with periodical publishing and subject matter knowledge of electrical engineering theory, applications, and professional practices.
Extensive background in publication planning, scheduling, and the periodical publication process.
In-depth understanding of state-of-the-art developments in electrical engineering and computer technology (preferred).
Technologically savvy with knowledge of online peer review systems and proficiency in MS Office products.
Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders in different departments and balance Editorial Board consensus with IEEE business interests.
Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills.
