Overview
Guggenheim New York is seeking a Communications Manager, Digital Writer to develop and coordinate written content across the institution's internal and public-facing platforms. This role will unify the museum's institutional voice and enhance storytelling across PR, web, and internal channels.
The ideal candidate is an experienced writer and copy editor with a strong understanding of media relations, digital content strategy, institutional messaging, and cross-department and cross-institutional communications. This role is part of the PR team and will work alongside the Public Relations Manager and Communications Associate; it will also bridge the work of press, marketing (social media, video leads), and brand (design, photography leads) teams to create a more cohesive and engaging digital presence on the museum’s owned channels.
Qualifications
Proven experience as an editor, writer, and/or content strategist.
Excellent writing and editing skills, with an understanding of institutional communications, brand voice, editorial standards, and the cultural media landscape.
A passion for storytelling, audience engagement, and bringing institutional values to life through storytelling and digital content.
Experience managing and updating websites (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Salesforce, or similar CMS/CRM platforms).
Highly collaborative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally within the Communications department (PR, marketing, social, and brand teams) and cross-institutionally with Curatorial, Advancement, Operations, and other departments.
Bachelor's degree or related fields is a plus.
2-4 years of experience in communications, PR or Marketing agency, or related role—preferably in a creative field, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization.
Responsibilities
Write, edit, and adapt content for the institution’s webpages, including drafting exhibition descriptions, program highlights, and special projects.
Serve as lead copy editor with PR, Social Media, Marketing, and Brand to ensure tone, voice, and message align with institutional brand and department goals.
Collaborate on storytelling with PR and marketing colleagues to bring energy and clarity to the museum’s website and external and internal messaging.
Collaborate with marketing and brand teams (social media, video, and photography) to connect and amplify messaging across platforms and support a dynamic, user-focused digital content experience.
Oversee and update key areas of the website, including the press room, newsroom, exhibition pages, and program pages.
Work with colleagues to streamline content and web management processes.
Develop, edit, and manage content for internal communications channels including intranet, e-communications, and select speaker remarks to energize Guggenheim New York’s narrative and reflect institutional values and priorities.
Work Environment and Demands
Ability to travel within the metropolitan area as required to perform the above duties at Guggenheim properties.
Occasionally work outdoors, with exposure to varied weather conditions.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on occasion.
Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.

Hybrid eligible; hours vary based on position.
Position Type
Full-time, Exempt. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with Local 2110 UAW.
Salary Range
$75,000 annually
