Overview Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Director, US Marketing, Product Portfolio to join our US Surgical Vision team. This position is located at our Irvine, CA office location. Purpose: The Director of US Marketing, Product Portfolio will create and implement the overall development and implementation of the US surgical portfolio strategies, while leading all core product and sales enablement initiatives. This role is responsible for executing product positioning, product management, and utilizing clinical data and claims to support marketing efforts for all US Surgical Vision product portfolio including all Phaco Systems, Catalys Femtosecond Laser, iLASIK Refractive suite, TECNIS family of IOLs, OVD and all other disposable surgical products. The director will enable the sales organization with the necessary sales and support tools, target and segment customers, lead new product introductions, partner for sales training and professional education, and oversee strategy to achieve business results. The director will implement lifecycle management strategies and pricing and revenue growth programs, coordinate with finance and commercial operations for forecasting and demand planning, and build revenue. The Director of Marketing will collaborate with Global Strategic Marketing, Sales, Education, Training, Prof Ed, Sales Operations, Finance, Strategic / Corporate Accounts, R&D, Corporate Communications, and outside agencies to execute key commercial activities. This senior leader directs managers and/or senior contributors in a matrix environment, fosters career development, and provides coaching and feedback. Develop and execute US strategic plans for the full product portfolio, including identifying target markets, key customer segments, defining product positioning, and conducting market research to drive business growth. Work with Finance and Global Business Analytics to determine performance trends and market growth assumptions to build realistic business plan target goals for BP, JU, NU and ongoing IBP. Collaborate with the sales team to develop sales enablement strategies and tools, including target customer identification, sales promotions, and effective communication materials. Champion pricing strategies and revenue growth programs to maximize profitability while ensuring competitive market positioning. Lead NPI (New Product Introductions) initiatives, working cross-functionally with GSM, operations, and sales teams to successfully launch new products into the market. Develop materials and support tools for the sales organization, ensuring they have the resources to effectively use and promote products. Work with Med Affairs, R&D and Professional Engagement to implement clinical data and claims to support product positioning and marketing efforts, ensuring claims are evidence-based and compliant with regulatory requirements. Cross-functional collaboration with demand planners and supply to forecast and ensure supply and demand for revenue and consignment targets. Contribute to top-level decisions by evaluating value proposition, market landscape, and target audience to build compelling business cases. Collaborate with training and professional education to implement portfolio strategy, messaging, tools and data into sales force training and education programming. Partner with sales operations to manage KPIs using dashboards and report leading and lagging indicators to senior leaders. Oversee lifecycle management of existing products to fit the portfolio strategy, evaluate performance, identify improvement opportunities, and coordinate with demand, consignment, and finance to optimize inventory prior to end-of-life. Support business and financial objectives within the allocated marketing budget. Create a purpose-driven environment by aligning Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives with team and enterprise strategies and goals. Qualifications / Requirements
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required; MBA strongly preferred. Minimum of 10 years marketing experience required. Demonstrated experience in critical marketing competencies. Downstream marketing experience with a proven track record of launch execution. People leadership experience with expertise in change leadership and managing people leaders. Experience with capital equipment marketing and its importance in the surgical market. Demonstrated comfort with ambiguity. High learning agility and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment. Ability to actively develop talent and culture to achieve results. Outstanding communication, collaboration, and influencing abilities. Strong leadership capabilities to work effectively in a matrix and unstructured environment. Broad business acumen and P&L orientation required. This position requires approximately 25% domestic travel. Compensation & Benefits The anticipated base pay range for this position is $146,000 to $251,850. The Company maintains competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Eligible for an annual performance bonus. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, group legal insurance, retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
