Job Summary Provide College faculty with course design support and training using identified best practices and pedagogies to develop engaging, academically rigorous, and accessible learning experiences using instructional technology. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.
Essential Functions Provide instructional design support to faculty through collaborative one-on-one or team sessions. Assist faculty with developing engaging, pedagogically sound, and accessible course materials and assessments for online, hybrid, and instructional technology-enhanced face-to-face courses. Aid faculty with new or revised course developments, and convert face-to-face courses to online, hybrid formats, and/or technology-enhanced courses. Ensure and maintain compliance with academic and quality standards and El Paso Community College's (EPCC's) vision and mission.
Develop and facilitate online and face-to-face professional development workshops and training in instructional technology, pedagogy, andragogy, Universal Design for Instruction, Universal Design for Learning, accessibility, and best practices for course design and online teaching.
Stay current on emerging instructional technology trends in higher education and provide technical support in College supported instructional technologies and software to faculty, students, and staff. Provide technical support and troubleshoot any system issues. Develop and revise curricular materials to ensure proper alignment to the intended objectives and work with the Assessment Director and faculty on learning outcomes.
Develop communication pieces for district-wide use including but not limited to training manuals, user manuals, guides, promotional materials, multimedia presentations, social media posts, and training videos. Research the latest trends, best practices, accessibility requirements, and emerging instructional technologies and provide recommendations to management on relevant and useful findings.
Responsible for personnel management activities of assigned staff, including the recommendation for employment, supervision, performance evaluation, guidance, support concerning professional development training, and compliance with policies and regulations.
Participate in short and long-term departmental goals and objectives. Research issues related to policy development and develop new or revised departmental policies and procedures. Attend meetings to carry out the mission and vision of EPCC.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.
2. Working knowledge of curriculum development and instructional design.
3. Strong technical writing and editing skills.
4. Effective organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
5. Effective communication skills.
6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administration, vendors, and the public.
7. Experience in Instructional Course Design for distance learning.
8. Working knowledge of Competency-Based Education (CBE), Open Educational Resources (OER).
