What You Will Do
We're seeking a Developer Experience Engineer and Writer to create world-class documentation, sample applications, and educational content that makes developers and data practitioners successful with MotherDuck. You'll combine technical expertise in the modern data stack with exceptional writing skills to transform complex data workflows into clear, actionable guidance.
You'll serve as the bridge between engineering innovations and user success, working closely with engineering, product, and go-to-market teams to document features, create comprehensive tutorials, and build educational resources that accelerate adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Content Creation & Documentation
- Write comprehensive technical documentation based on hands-on experience with MotherDuck features
- Create step-by-step guides for users to understand the product UI, SQL syntax and how to use MotherDuck and DuckDB from various programming languages
- Build code examples and working examples that showcase product capabilities
- Author technical blog posts and articles that educate our developer community
- Collaborate with engineering during feature development to ensure optimal developer experience
Developer Relations & Community Engagement
- Partner with product marketing on go-to-market content addressing user challenges
- Engage with our developer community to identify pain points and documentation needs
- Create educational content for conferences, webinars, and community events
- Contribute to open source documentation and community resources
Quality & Standards
- Ensure content accuracy, consistency, and adherence to best practices
- Maintain up-to-date documentation across platforms
- Test all code examples and technical procedures to ensure accuracy
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to validate technical accuracy
What you bring
- 3-8 years of technical writing experience in data/analytics, developer tools, modern data stack companies, or equivalent
- Hands-on experience as a data engineer, analytics engineer, data analyst, data scientist, software engineer, or equivalent
- Deep understanding of modern data stack (dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, Looker, etc.)
- Proficiency in Python and/or other programming languages, plus analytical SQL
- Proven ability to write clear technical documentation from scratch based on personal product experience
- Strong project management skills for concurrent projects in fast-paced environments
- Customer success mindset with experience gathering and acting on user feedback
- Experience collaborating with engineering teams and technical stakeholders
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, distributed team environment
- Portfolio demonstrating high-quality technical writing for developer audiences
