Description

At POLITICO, we don’t just cover the press conferences and news releases out of the White House — we uncover the power plays, rivalries and behind-closed-doors dealmaking that drive the administration’s biggest decisions. We’re looking for a White House reporter with top-tier sourcing and unstoppable drive to help us reveal what’s really happening inside Donald Trump’s second presidency.

This isn’t a beat for stenographers. It’s for a journalist who can penetrate the walls of the White House and Washington’s influence ecosystem — from senior administration officials to lobbyists, business leaders and conservative power brokers. We're looking for someone to land agenda-setting scoops, pull back the curtain on policymaking and shape how readers understand the forces colliding around Trump’s presidency.

What You’ll Do:

Break distinctive, behind-the-scenes stories on the personalities, factions and power struggles steering the administration.

Cover the news cycle's biggest stories from the trade war, to negotiations with Congress and the White House’s entanglements with tech and business leaders.

Tap into your deep Rolodex across the administration, lobbying world and conservative circles to drive unparalleled coverage.

Collaborate with some of the best reporters and editors in Washington, our states and European bureaus to produce scoops, analysis and agenda-setting journalism.

Operate at a high metabolism — turning exclusive reporting into must-read stories that move the conversation.

What We're Looking For:

A reporter with proven sourcing at the highest levels of politics, policy or business.

Someone who thrives on breaking news but also has the vision to spot bigger-picture dynamics.

A journalist who’s relentless in chasing tough stories, but collaborative in working with colleagues.

A track record of standout, ambitious reporting that makes competitors scramble to catch up.

If you’ve got the sourcing, the drive and the vision to own this beat, we want you on our team.

We value our people. Click here (https://www.politico.com/blogs/meet-politico/2017/08/24/faq-241910) for more on what we offer and what it’s like to work for POLITICO.

About us

POLITICO illuminates the forces shaping global power. Since 2007, we have delivered intelligence that anticipates tomorrow's headlines, not reports on yesterday's news. As politics has increasingly become the defining force of our era, our work has never been more vital.

Cabinet secretaries and Ministers start their mornings with our analysis. CEOs shape strategy around our reporting. Advocacy leaders rely on our insights to move policy. We deliver the straightforward facts and clear-eyed analysis they need to navigate the most complex political landscape of our lifetimes.

Our 1,100+ publishing professionals across the world's key democratic capitals—Washington, Brussels, London, Paris, Berlin, Sacramento, and New York—form the world's premier politics and policy newsroom. We tell the story of how power really works by explaining who wields it and how they plan to exercise it, connecting dots others miss and delivering scoops from sources others don't even know exist.

Innovation has always been a core tenet of our story. At launch, we bet that depth would trump scale, that talent would trump traffic, and that politics would become central to modern life. In 2011, we made another bet and launched POLITICO Pro to help decision-makers understand the business of government, transforming both how they shape government action and the business of journalism itself.

These bets have made POLITICO the most successful digital news startup of its generation and the indispensable resource for leaders who shape the future. Today, we are a rarity in media: a growing, profitable, and sustainable news organization.

POLITICO is a subsidiary of Axel Springer SE, a family-owned transatlantic media company headquartered in Berlin and New York. Axel Springer is dedicated to shaping the future of journalism in the free world, believing that a free and informed society is essential to democracy. Learn more about Axel Springer.
