Outreach & Marketing Specialist, GS-1101-12

This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of Field Operations in one of the following locations: Chicago, IL; Pittsburg, PA; Williston, VT; Salt Lake City, UT; Casper, WY; and Euless, TX. The incumbent provides oversight of SBA program grantees and Resource Partners to include compliance reviews, site visits, and other monitoring activities.

Responsibilities

As an Outreach & Marketing Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Building and maintaining a local network of collaborative partnerships: economic development practitioners in federal, state, regional and local government, chambers of commerce, business and trade associations, financial institutions, educational institutions and civic/community organizations.
  • Representing the SBA at a variety of public functions through outreach/presentations/trainings in order to educate the small business, lender and contracting community about SBA programs and services, and other small business-relevant topics.
  • Participating in or leading projects to accomplish outreach events and will be expected to collaborate with others on the team and other resources to ensure that the projects are successful.
  • Delivering formal presentations to various internal and external audiences and/or providing trainings to staff or external clients can take place at group or on individual levels.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience for GS-12: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector:

  • Developing marketing strategy for programs and services for growth and development of a customer base;
  • Developing and delivering outreach, training, presentations, and education on a variety of business management, financial management or lending topics related to small business;
  • Building and managing collaborative alliances and partnerships with a variety of business development partners.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

All qualification requirements must be met by 11:59 pm (Eastern Time) on 09/10/2025.

Education Education may not be substituted for experience for this position.

This is a bargaining unit position with AFGE Local 228 or NFFE Local 2170.
