Library Student Assistant -Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD)

Reporting to the Research & Instruction Librarian, this position will assist the members of the full-time staff with the following responsibilities:
Assist in remediating dissertations and theses to meet accessibility standards Learn and use specialized software (Abbyy Fine Reader) to convert images into full text documents Tag document elements (such as headings, tables, lists, links, etc.) to meet standards Check reading order of a document to ensure screen readers can track the logical flow Perform other jobs as needed (may include scanning, prepping kits, pulling books from shelves, and data entry) Requirements
Detail oriented Computer and tech skills Organizational skills Willingness to learn new skills Ability to lift 30 lbs. with or without accommodation Currently enrolled students at Loyola University Maryland or Notre Dame of Maryland University
Hours:
Weekday hours, between 9AM and 5PM. Minimum two-hour shifts.

The Loyola Notre Dame Library, located in northern Baltimore City, is a member of the University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions (USMAI) and serves Loyola University Maryland and Notre Dame of Maryland University. The library serves as an integral part of the campuses by providing information services and resources to support the academic programs and educational concerns of the two institutions. Loyola University Maryland, a member of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, is recognized for excellence in teaching and learning and Notre Dame of Maryland University is a leader in intellectual and professional excellence in tandem with service to others. The Library serves a total student population of 5,751 FTE that includes 4,657 FTE at Loyola and 1,094 FTE at Notre Dame.
