Overview

911 Call Taker/Communications Dispatcher role with City of Bowling Green, KY. The Communications Center answers 911 and non-emergency calls and provides radio communication dispatch and administrative support to the Police Department and associated agencies. The position supports safety through effective communication and data management, using the latest technology to maintain high-quality service. Responsibilities

Perform radio communication dispatch and administrative duties for the Police Department. Communicate effectively with officers, multiple police agencies, and city/county fire departments; maintain status to ensure safety. Answer multiple telephone lines and dispatch as required; provide information and assistance to the general public. Maintain a variety of records and files through computer database entries; complete administrative assignments. Qualifications

18 years of age; U.S. Citizen. High school diploma or GED required, with one to two years of administrative and computer experience. Must achieve appropriate state certification within one year of hire and maintain certification. Salary and Benefits

Base pay range: $50,565.00 per year. Salary noted as G5: $50,565/yr; ($24.31/hr); plus full benefits package. Work Hours and Schedule

40 hours per week with required overtime as needed. Three shifts (7:00 a.m.3:30 p.m.; 3:00 p.m.11:30 p.m.; 11:00 p.m.7:30 a.m.) with night, weekend, and holiday requirements. New employees can expect to work most weekends and holidays and may have a 68 month training period with possible out-of-town training; hours may vary and shift during and after training. Application and Bowling Green Law Enforcement Application; Pre-Polygraph Questionnaire; suitability screening (SUIT), typing test, and oral interview. A polygraph test and thorough background investigation are required; investigation includes submission of extensive information regarding employment, residence, criminal and credit history, and interviews with family, neighbors, and current/former employers.
