Overview
Altius is partnering with a leading freight forwarder to hire a Customs Entry Writer. A detail-focused professional who can process entries accurately while keeping shipments compliant and on schedule. Base pay range
$60,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr What Youll Do Prepare and submit timely and accurate customs entries, including ISF, entry summaries, and other required documentation. Review commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and other shipping documents to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations. Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and apply appropriate duty rates. Communicate with clients, carriers, and government agencies to resolve holds, exams, and other clearance issues. Maintain clear, organized records and support the licensed broker with day-to-day compliance tasks.
Qualifications / Experience
13 years of experience in customs entry writing, brokerage, or import operations. Strong understanding of HTS classification, ACE/ABI systems, and U.S. import compliance requirements. High attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing and entering data. Ability to manage multiple entries simultaneously and meet strict filing deadlines. Experience with platforms like CargoWise or Descartes is highly desirable.
