Overview

Institutional Repository Librarian - SHAREOK TM, the joint institutional repository for OU and the University of Central Oklahoma. SHAREOK TM is hosted on DSpace and contains more than 40,000 items, including faculty and staff publications, student works, and open educational resources. This position develops, implements, and assesses policies, workflows, and documentation to streamline mediated deposit of faculty, staff, and student scholarship in SHAREOK TM and improve the user experience, in collaboration with colleagues. Reporting to the Director of Open Initiatives and Scholarly Communication within OU Libraries, the Institutional Repository Librarian supports increasing awareness and uptake of SHAREOK TM in support of OU-Norman Open Access policy, broadening access to OU research output.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and assess policies, workflows, and documentation to streamline mediated deposit of faculty, staff, and student scholarship in SHAREOK TM.
  • Improve user experience and promote awareness and uptake of SHAREOK TM in support of open access policies.
  • Provide library services related to the domain, including reference services, preparing and maintaining materials, cataloging and classifying, performing bibliographic searches, and developing guides to the Libraries’ collections and research aids.
  • Participate in collection development, library instruction, and represent OU Libraries to internal and external clients.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to fulfill the function of the position and support digital repository initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Required Education: Bachelor\'s degree.
  • Skills: excellent oral and written communication; ability to work with end-users at varying technological skill levels; ability to define and prioritize goals; proficiency with Microsoft Office; rapid learning of new technologies; knowledge of open access concepts related to academic libraries.
  • Experience: project management of complex digital initiatives; success in cultivating relationships with students, faculty, and staff; ability to work strategically with stakeholders; experience with end-user platform support, technical troubleshooting, user testing, or platform development; understanding of metadata standards and digital repositories.
  • Preferred: 12 months of recent repository or digital asset management experience; Master\'s in Library Science or relevant advanced degree; knowledge of repository platforms (e.g., DSpace, Digital Commons, Islandora, Esploro, Dataverse); understanding of scholarly publishing lifecycle; knowledge of metadata standards (Dublin Core, MODS, PREMIS); experience in higher education or library settings; project management experience; accessibility best practices knowledge; ability to translate technical terms for non-specialists; quantitative data analysis skills.
