Library Clerk/Courier (Part-Time) – City of Riverside
The Library Clerk/Courier position supports the Circulation Division by handling courier and page duties and by assisting with library materials in a multi-location library system.
Key Responsibilities
- As a courier, deliver library materials, mail, and other items between city facilities using a city vehicle.
- Assist with sorting and shelving library materials for the Dove Library circulation division.
Qualifications
- Valid California Driver License and a good driving record.
- Able to comfortably lift up to 50 pounds.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to use email and job-related websites.
- Enjoy working with the public and possess a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a shared space and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable, flexible, patient, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to anticipate needs and stay well-organized.
- Demonstrate initiative and good follow through.
Experience & Education
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could provide the required knowledge and abilities would qualify. For the part-time Library Clerk assigned to courier and circulation duties, typical qualifications include graduation from high school and one year of general clerical experience. Physical requirements include safely handling up to 50 pounds, such as loading boxes of books into the courier van and sorting donated books.
Physical Requirements
While performing duties, employees may sit, walk, and stand; must be able to lift and handle up to 50 pounds and push/pull carts weighing up to 60 pounds. Regular communication and interaction with staff and the public are required.
