Overview
This peak-time position (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) is responsible for providing public service within the Circulation Department.
Responsibilities
- Provide public service within the Circulation Department.
- Open and/or close procedures and daily operations of the library.
- Assist users with locating, requesting, and processing materials from other institutions.
- Check materials and technology in and out.
- Support the Semester Loan Technology Program by assisting with the physical organization and functioning of devices.
- Collaborate with other departments as needed.
- Create, schedule, and maintain study room appointments and study room space.
- Assist with updating the library website and creating content for social media.
- Register and update user accounts.
- Circulate all library materials and collect fines and fees.
- Receive, process, and help maintain Reserves materials.
- Provide information to patrons in person, online, and by telephone, and make necessary referrals; assist patrons as needed.
- Help maintain library space and collection.
- Inspect damaged materials and refer them to repair or replacement.
- Troubleshoot and provide assistance that supports daily functioning of the library (copiers, printers, DVD players, computers, print stations, scanning stations, etc.).
- Support library programming, marketing and outreach initiatives.
- Assist in directing the day-to-day activities of student aides.
- Process materials borrowed and lent through Interlibrary Loan.
- Anticipate future needs of students.
- Keep informed of initiatives concerning accessibility.
- Participate in campus initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: LTA Certificate or Associate's degree required.
- Experience: One year library circulation experience preferred and customer service experience required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word & PowerPoint required.
