About this opportunity: Seasonal — Plans, coordinates and directs the functions of the Conservatory Music program; ensures quality of programs and safety of youth; provides guidance and role modeling to youth and ensures safety and a positive experience for campers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides quality music instruction to campers.
  • Teaches music theory as it applies to the appropriate level for playing purposes.
  • Provides appropriate lessons for instruction time.
  • Reviews assigned homework with students and re-teach skills if necessary.
  • Be responsible for the care of instruments during class, with necessary repairs reported to the Divisional Music Director.
  • Prepares students for recitals and concerts.
  • Plans, schedules, assign and monitor the students work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Recommends and develops activities to develop musical abilities, motor and learning skills of students.
  • Coordinates the program and activity within camp policies and operating procedures.
  • Maintains discipline and acceptable behaviors to create an atmosphere of friendliness and security during all program periods.
  • Participates and assists in various classes as assigned.
  • Provides constant care for the needs of the campers in a safe, clean, and healthy manner.
  • Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside activities.
  • Participates as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights and other camp functions.
  • Sits with camper tables during meals and serves as a table monitor when needed.
  • Keeps personal living quarters neat and ready for inspection.
  • Be available to participate and assist with camp programs and activities as directed by the Camp Director.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For In You

  • Six months experience teaching music education and teaching experience, with the ability to play and teach lessons in a classroom setting involving more than one student preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

Some physical requirements include endurance such as climbing, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate music equipment are required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours. Exposure to sun and heat and varying environmental conditions.
