The Peabody Preparatory is pleased to announce an opening for an Adjunct Early Childhood Music teaching position in the Early Childhood Music Department at the Peabody Preparatory, a division of the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. Start date is June 2025.
Responsibilities
The successful Early Childhood Music teaching candidate will provide group-based music instruction to students (birth to 5 years of age) and families. Duties include: teaching up to 3 classes per campus over the summer (6 weeks) on Saturdays and possibly a weekday morning; during the academic year, up to 4 classes on Saturday mornings and possible weekday morning classes for fall and spring semesters (32 weeks). Depending on availability, additional opportunities may be available at other campus locations.

Multiple locations, including Howard County, Downtown Baltimore, Frederick, possibly more
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in music, music education, and/or early childhood education is required. Master's degree or equivalent experience and training preferred.
- Documented successful teaching experience required.
- Experience and an exceptional manner with children birth to 5 years.
- Excellent musicianship and comfortable in (and/or able to easily learn) melodies in all tonalities and meters.
- A background in early childhood music is preferred but not required.

Salary Range: The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will depend on multiple factors, which may include the candidate’s geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
