NEWS REPORTER/PRODUCER - KKTV Job at Gray Television in Colorado Springs

Overview

KKTV is searching for a reporter/producer to join our 11 News Team. This is a hybrid role. This person will serve as a producer on weekends and a producer or MMJ during the week. As a producer, you will work to create urgent, relevant, impactful newscasts that are memorable. You must be a strong writer with excellent time management skills and attention to detail. As an MMJ, you will research, shoot, and present news stories (with viewer benefit) for our on-air & digital platforms. Engaging LIVESHOTS are a must. The ideal candidate will understand the importance of social media. The deadline to apply for this position is October 4, 2025.

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality news content (with high viewer impact) for broadcast, digital, streaming, and social media platforms.
• As a producer, write clearly, concisely, and conversationally. Work closely with the team to create impactful newscasts.
• As MMJ, develop sources in the community to pitch lead and enterprise stories.
• Must have time-management skills as you produce and/or gather video, sound, and graphics for stories. Must be able to work under tight deadlines to turn daily stories.
• Use creative storytelling and showcasing techniques to make stories easy to understand and memorable.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor\'s degree in journalism or related field
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience preferred
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Adapt to breaking news and developing news
• Experience delivering engaging live content in the studio and the field
• Excellent time management, communication, and writing skills (broadcast and AP style)
• Candidate must successfully complete an MVR check

Salary / Schedule

Salary/Wage: $18.27 - $19.23/hr.

Shift and Schedule: Days and hours may vary
