This role leads multiple teams to develop high-level strategy with clients and execute media, influencer and social programs. Rock-solid writing skills, in-depth knowledge of the technology industry, and proficiency with digital and social channels are required. A track record of leadership, edge thinking, and delivering meaningful business impact is essential. Technology background and established relationships with consumer tech media are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Media/Influencer Relations
- Develop and maintain relationships with business, broadcast and influencer media; direct staff to achieve similar results.
- Creative and effective use of social media channels to support efforts
- Ongoing engagement of media for the agency (e.g., blog Q&A, lunch talks)
- Measure the ROI of communications activities
- Manage social media influencer engagement, content campaigns, and media coverage amplification
- Client Service/Management: manage PR programs from kickoff through goals attainment
- Set aggressive yet achievable goals for news generation and ongoing coverage
- Exceptional client management and a strong commitment to client success
- Navigate periods of change or challenge with confidence
- Maintain day-to-day client contact
- Develop budgets and team priority allocations; identify opportunities to increase budget
- Lead media training sessions with clients, developing key messages and follow-up
- Writing: generate and edit campaign plans, press materials, backgrounders, bios, reports and related documents
- Maintain professional, timely client communications and craft consistent, creative pitches
- Agency Operations: supervise direct reports, support performance reviews and ongoing development
- Participate in new business by identifying targets, researching, and contributing to pitches; attend networking events
- Lead by example with a respectful, enthusiastic, and professional attitude
- Support teams and communicate effectively across levels
- Utilize flexible work policies appropriately
- Contribute to Highwire blog and use company channels for messaging
- Mentor junior staff to elevate development
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in account leadership, with experience growing teams and managing client engagements
- Ability to lead 3-4 teams and manage multiple accounts
- Strong writing skills and deep knowledge of the technology sector
- Proficiency with digital and social media practices; ability to develop programs with measurable business impact
- Ability to inspire and energize teams and contribute to the growth of Highwire
- Technology background and established relationships with consumer tech media
