Genesis is seeking a Marine Piping Designer for an onsite opportunity in North Kingsman, RI.

Summary

The Piping Designer must be experienced with a working knowledge of fabrication and assembly of piping systems in steel hull vessels. He/she must be proficient in AutoCAD 3D, well-versed in various piping systems, and able to understand ABS/Coast Guard rules and regulations. Compliance with safety procedures, company policies, and good work ethics are essential.

Education/Experience/Responsibilities:

• Engineering degree or coursework with relevant experience.
• Review and revise architect-provided flow diagrams to match shipyard standards and ABS requirements.
• Design piping systems based on flow diagrams and general arrangements.
• Research installation requirements of system components.
• Coordinate with other installations to prevent construction issues.
• Create craft-friendly drawings and assembly/system drawings.
• Address change requests and collaborate with owner representatives.
• Prepare and verify work packages for production, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Develop and update nesting programs for piping.
• Work with supervisors to resolve fabrication discrepancies.
• Revise drawings to prevent future construction issues.
• Implement process improvements.
• Perform field engineering tasks.
• Self-starter with minimal supervision.
• Maintain current piping system documentation with updates and corrections.

Software Required:

• AutoCAD 2013/16/18 for 3D piping models.
• MECH-Q for pipe modeling.
• Navisworks for interference checking.
• Microsoft Office suite.
• Ship Constructor 2018.

Physical Demands:

• Correctable vision of 20/40; contact lenses may be restricted in certain areas.
• Ability to pass Ishihara test and interpret safety symbols/colors.
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, squat, kneel, stoop, climb stairs/ladders.
• Ability to carry tools/equipment up to 75 pounds.
