Job Title: User Experience Designer/Service Designer
Company: 1 Alpha Consulting
Location: Pikeville, MD - On-site
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $80,000-$90,000

Position Description:

Bring best practices in human centered design to support initiatives across the state to holistically improve users’ end-to-end experiences with state services. Be a champion for user needs and guide designers, researchers, content strategists as well as technical teams on projects with state agencies. Engage with stakeholders across organizations in order to build customer understanding, solve challenging problems, and empower teams to collaboratively develop metrics, measuring results, and integrate new methodologies optimizing customer experience and program performance. Communicate user research findings and insights through appropriate artifacts including personas, journey maps, wireframes and prototypes.

Duties:

A. Design and implement responsive web application user interfaces using JavaScript/CSS/HTML5/JQuery.

B. Design and develop wireframe or prototypes based on requirements and validate the design with users.

C. Develop mobile and cross-browser compatible responsive front-end interfaces using latest frameworks like Bootstrap and Angular.

D. Work with the application team to make sure that the components are in compliance with UI/UX guidelines and Standards.

E. Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences that are measured and tied to key KPIs.

F. Using high and low fidelity design tools, deliver the appropriate interface designs including prototypes, mockups, wireframes, user stories, user journeys, optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.

G. Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and forthcoming functions and features that maintain a consistent user interface across all product offerings.

H. Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate the design solutions. Drive and participate in usability testing,

I. Collaborate with other team members and department stakeholders including Business Analysis, UI Engineering, and Client Support.

J. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients.

Education:

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline. Five (5) years of equivalent experience in a related field may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.

A. Four (4) years of experience in designing and developing web applications, mobile applications and cross-browser compatible responsive front-end interfaces.

B. Four (4) years of experience with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, Node.js, JavaScript and JQuery.

C. Extensive experience using the latest frameworks in JavaScript, Angular, CSS.

D. Extensive working knowledge of JavaScript, JSON, REST, XML, JSON, and scripting language.

E. Ability to create wireframes and prototypes using latest UI/UX products

General Experience:

The proposed candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in user experience and service design.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to remain in a stationary position (seated or standing) for extended periods while working at a computer.
Constant use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment.
Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing, both in person and virtually.
Occasional movement within an office setting or remote work environment to access files, office equipment, or collaborate with team members.
Ability to participate in virtual and in-person meetings, presentations, and collaborative design sessions.
May occasionally require lifting or carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds (e.g., laptops, presentation materials, or office supplies).
Must be able to maintain focus and attention to detail for extended periods.
