We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Interior Designer to join our team in Lexington, Kentucky! The designer will have diverse knowledge of interior architecture design principles, practices, and is responsible for leading and managing the interior design vision for projects through completion. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead interior design professionals and teams in interior architecture, design strategy, and complete project development.
  • Responsible for the implementation of project’s design vision, concept, coordination, and quality of the design deliverable and design presentations.
  • Seek guidance when additional technical knowledge is needed to address project challenges.
  • Mentor a team of professionals by identifying and challenging with growth through professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with owner and team to fully understand that individuality of the client/project and development of the programmatic needs and direction.
  • Responsible for keeping the Project Principal, Project Manager, updates on interior updates.
  • Navigate high level challenges with project principal and other team members, when needed.
  • Responsible for the accuracy, coordination, and quality of the BIM deliverable through the management of the Project BIM execution plan.
  • Maintain proficiency regarding building materials, construction methods, costs, codes, and regulatory requirements for best practices implementation using a universal design approach.
  • In collaboration with the project team, ensure feasibility, constructability, and life safety/code requirements are met.
  • In collaboration with the project team, maintain opinion of probably cost, assist in substitution requests and participate in cost reduction strategies.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree from a CIDA-accredited school and active registered Interior Design licensure preferred.
  • 8 – 10 years of commercial design experience is required with at least 5 years of experience in mentoring a team of designers.
  • Prior experience in educational facilities is preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of 2D/3D software, including Enscape, Formit, Sketchup, BIM 360, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator required, and Revit preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the design delivery process with ability to conceptualize, design, and detail solutions.
  • Exceptional communication, both verbal and written, and effective presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
