We are seeking a committed and detail-oriented Volunteer Grant Writer to join our passionate team. This position is pivotal in ensuring the sustainability of our current programs and enabling us to expand our outreach to serve more individuals. As a Volunteer Grant Writer, you will focus on researching funding opportunities, preparing compelling grant applications, and collaborating with staff to capture the heart and mission of House of Mercy and Grace in every proposal.
This is an unpaid volunteer position requiring a commitment of 10 hours per week for a 6-month period. Your contribution will directly impact our ability to transform lives and foster positive change in the community.
Key Responsibilities· Grant Research: Identify and evaluate potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources that align with the mission and programs of House of Mercy and Grace.
· Proposal Writing: Draft, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to all funder guidelines and deadlines.
· Collaboration: Work closely with program managers, leadership, and other volunteers to collect data, success stories, and financial documentation needed for grant applications.
· Reporting: Assist in compiling interim and final reports for funded grants. Maintain clear records of all applications, outcomes, and correspondence with funders.
· Database Management: Maintain a grants calendar and tracking system to ensure timely submission of applications and reports.
· Continuous Learning: Stay informed about trends in nonprofit funding and best practices in grant writing.

· Writing Excellence: Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to craft clear, persuasive, and well-organized proposals.

· Self-Motivation: Capacity to work independently while staying accountable to agreed-upon timelines and goals.
· Experience: Previous experience in grant writing, fundraising, or nonprofit administration is preferred but not required. Training and mentorship will be provided for motivated candidates.
· Technical Skills: Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, and online collaboration tools.
Time Commitment and Schedule· Weekly Hours: 10 hours per week, with flexibility to arrange your schedule in consultation with the team.
· Duration: 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on organizational needs and volunteer interest.
