CHIEF OBJECTIVES OF THIS POSITION:

The Onsite Audio Video Technician provides exemplary support and services to our clients in all duties, including setting up and operating various scaled audiovisual systems, with a specialty in audio, video, computers, HSIA, audio conferencing, video conferencing, webcasting, and basic lighting for different types of programs. They will be personable and client-focused, with problem-solving skills that can be applied in various types of environments and situations.

Reports to: Director of Technical Production

General Responsibilities:

• Ensure a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and video switching and camera equipment breakdown.

• Extensive knowledge of video equipment

• Extensive knowledge of audio equipment

• Experience with video conferencing and streaming services, including hard codecs and soft codecs.

• Ability to perform basic network troubleshooting procedures.

• Demonstrate strong general problem-solving skills.

• Provide excellent service and strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external clients.

• Make personal contact with guests and assist with any reasonable requests.

• Maintain a positive relationship with all clients and team members through effective communication.

• Properly secure, store, transport, and preserve company AV equipment.

• Participate in the physical inventory count process as requested.

• Review and have knowledge of the menu/service with operations and production teams.

• Assist the service team in daily duties to ensure an outstanding client experience.

• Other duties as requested by management. Onsite Team Expectations:

• Must be punctual and able to manage time efficiently

• Must follow directions as delegated by the Team Lead

• Proven ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and work effectively under pressure

• Must ensure delicate handling of all necessary equipment and event-related assets

• Must follow specific cable management instructions in the field and in the office

• Defer to the Team Lead whenever possible; decisions should be made through the Lead

• Proficient understanding of Video Switching Technology

• Strong understanding of Hybrid Event Topology with multiple simultaneous teleconferences

• Experience with equipment maintenance and A/V Cable termination


Equipment Preparation
  • Oversee organization, staging, and maintenance of audio gear in the warehouse.

  • Test, configure, and troubleshoot PA systems, mixing consoles, wireless microphones, and in-ear monitor (IEM) systems before the event deployment.

  • Ensure all audio gear is road-ready, labeled, and adequately packed before being sent to event sites.

  • Maintain an inventory management system for all audio equipment, cables, and accessories.

  • Inspect and repair faulty cables, connectors, and damaged equipment to ensure reliability.

  • Work with the logistics team to ensure timely equipment pull, loading, and returns.

Technical Expertise & System Optimization
  • Calibrate and align speakers, amplifiers, and DSPs for optimal performance.

  • Program and test digital audio networks (Dante, AES, MADI) for streamlined event setups.

  • Perform RF frequency coordination for wireless systems and assist with interference mitigation.

  • Ensure firmware updates and software patches are applied to all audio equipment.


Press Collaboration
  • Train the Operations Team on equipment setup and maintenance.

  • Assign tasks and oversee warehouse workflow to ensure efficiency.

  • Work closely with the production team to meet specific technical requirements for events.

  • Enforce safety procedures and best practices for handling audio equipment in the warehouse.

Maintenance & Inventory Management
  • Conduct routine checks and preventive maintenance on all audio equipment.

  • Track equipment rentals and work with vendors for repairs or gear replacements.

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse audio operations.

  • Monitor stock levels of consumables such as batteries, gaff tape, and connectors.

  • Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers for necessary repairs or equipment upgrades.

  • Ensure all software and firmware updates are current and have been tested.


Qualifications & Skills:

Required:
  • Over 5 years of experience in live event audio production and equipment management.
  • A strong understanding of audio signal flow, gain structure, and system calibration.
  • Proficient with both digital and analog mixing consoles (Yamaha CL/QL, Avid VENUE, Digico, Midas).
  • Experienced with Dante, AES, MADI, and RF coordination for wireless microphones and IEMs.
  • Knowledgeable in speaker tuning, array design, and DSP configuration (Q-SYS, Lake, Smaart, Waves).
  • Capable of diagnosing and repairing common audio issues with cables, connectors, and electronics.
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills for managing warehouse staff and logistics.
  • Able to lift over 50 lbs and work flexible hours as required.
Preferred:
  • Dante Level 3 certification, Smaart, or AVIXA CTS certification.
  • Experience in rack-building, custom wiring, and networking for audio systems.
  • Be familiar with live broadcast and recording setups.
  • Knowledge of power distribution for audio systems (load balancing and grounding).
